In assessing the shortcomings of this season who is responsible for our failure? is it callum ,the board or has the team just been a disgrace?

Recruitment hasn't worked, CM even said that in his interview but we never replaced Willoughby.

The manager. It’s his team, tactics, training regime and pitch size. That said, I think some of the senior pros have let him down in recent weeks.

First of all, recruitment for a main striker target in the summer was a bad mistake. Signing of Goodson, Burton and Clarke would have been better combined on one player.
Bad start to the league season and we were always chasing the teams above us since then. The defeat to York and potential cash of £100K was a tough one to take and again could have been used on signing some important players.
Mentality in terms of other teams and gaining draws -
From pre-season, the fans and Cal kept on pressing home that Scunthorpe were going to walk the league, be too easy for them, they've got players on X amount etc etc. Why were we so obsessed/focused/worried about Scunthorpe and other clubs? The focus needs to be on us?!
Personally I think we set ourselves up for this right from minute one by just saying that the aim is to finish 7th and get in the Play-Offs. Why not have that ambition and mentality to go even better this season and not just accept we'll get in the Play-Offs there or there abouts. Tamworth have cruised to the league without even being impressive.
Draws -
One thing that does frustrate me is this obsession when we draw a game that "it's a point gained" no its not, it's two points dropped. The winning mentality from last season and the Bern and Jonno era of playing right to the last second has completely gone. I honestly can't remember when we have won a game in the last 1, 5 or 10 minutes.
This constant praising from the official social media channels needs to stop "10 Unbeaten at CH1" we probably won 2 games and drew 8!
Unfortunately this season is a complete write off now, more than likely will lose some of the better players as they will sign contracts with teams higher up and I don't blame them to be honest.

The 'toxic' fans according to one poster.. The fact someone has blamed directors who work hard to make sure we have a club running properly proves my point.

Do we really need to blame anyone?
I'd assume our budget is about 5th-8th for this league. We over achieved last season and under achieved this season.
Ultimately it us down to us the owners to provide the funds for the board to give the manager to put together his squad.
I think the owners and board have done their bit. I think the manager has recruited poorly, and put together an unbalanced squad. He's made mistakes. I don't blame him though. Sometimes in life with the best endeavour things don't work out. That happens in any part of life including work, health and relationships. Being a football manager just means it happens in public.
It's difficult at this level to know a players character. I think we've been short in that with this group, when things aren't going well they look edgy.

Appreciate emotions may be running high after yesterday's shit show, but can we all just take a breath and think before posting? I've just removed posts calling someone a stupid old cunt, taking the piss about dementia, blatant wind up attempts.....there's no need. Disagree with someone with a bit of class and debate the point in a grown up way, or just ignore them. Sick of threads being derailed by the same people, we're all entitled to an opinion whether you agree with it or not, just debate it properly and respect that others may have a different opinion to you.

We're playing at the 6th step of the English Football Pyramid. We are where we are and that isn't going to change anytime soon. Mistakes will be made by everybody, the board, staff, volunteers, players, fans and even the bloody weather!! Can we put some perspective on all of this and try find some positivity in what has been a weird season. It still isn't over. We still have enough quality, on paper granted at the moment, to get enough points to get into the playoffs and win the whole bloody thing. This isn't a write-off yet. We're still in the hunt and it can all change, very quickly. Imagine everyone rambling and moaning and calling for the manager to go and these players aren't good enough etc etc, and then we go and get promoted via the playoffs? Now that would really be Devachat fucking Gold.
We're well ran, fan-owned and well-supported and we can fucking do this. We have the players. We WILL have the tactics and nouse for these last 3 games and Callum, staff and players need as many of us as possible to pull them over that finish line and I for one, will be trying to do just that.
If we fail at not making the playoffs, because that's what it would be classified as, failure, then we go again don't we. Cal at the wheel and we all go again.

Agreed that blame probably is too strong a word but not making the play offs has to be acknowledged as a failure for this football club.

Ultimately, the directors are to blame Can you please explain to me how this is the case? I know a couple and just see hard working people who put their spare time away from their families into making this football club the best it can be with what they have to hand. I'd be really interested in your take?

Ultimately, the directors are to blame They’re volunteers doing the best for the club. It’s not them trying to stick the ball in the net or win a 50/50 tackle in midfield. Finger pointing galore here, but win our final 3 and you never know.

Finger pointing galore here, but win our final 3 and you never know. They’ve done an absolute sterling job over the last few seasons and anybody who thinks otherwise is seriously misinformed and in all honesty there is very little hope for.

He’s put all his eggs in one basket in terms of squad and personnel. It hasn’t worked but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t back him to learn for next season and to turn it around. How the Directors get ire from some for volunteering over those who literally cost us a Willoughby replacement show everything that’s wrong with the world. A bit more Buxton over the next 3 games in selection and playing style and he deserves another season.

BLAME?!?!?!?
What in the devacgat gold is this?!?!?!?
We're a fan owned football club in the sixth tier of English football, it's what happens.
Neil Young (God) - 3 unbelievable seasons, 1 shite.
Steve Burr - 1 good season, 1 good start, overall bang average.
Jon McCarthy - Perfect start, total abysmal thereafter.
Marcus Bignot - Meh
Morley and Johnson - 1 decent season, 2 good interrupted seasons, 1 shite.
Steve Watson - See Bignot.
Calum McIntyre - 1 excellent season, 1 bang average.
See the pattern? We're a fan owned football club in the sixth tier of English football, it's what happens.
