For me I think Roberts has been a victim of his own success early doors in his career . First choice for us at 17 in the FL has taken its toll and I think he is short of a yard and moves like a 38 year old instead of a 34 year old. Same thing happened to Rooney, body was broken because he was over played when he was young. Been a great servant and had a top career, maybe it’s time to offer him the full physio role?

Can I ask why not? Consistently one of our best players this season.

Caton under contract Peers under contract Burke under contract Weekes under contract
Offer deals to Williams, Stanway, and maybe Edwards and Woodthorpe. The rest for me can go.
Coates , I really rate but can't carry players who play a couple of games then miss three, ditto Thomas. Glendon, has had a decent season for me but the team has to be built around getting the best out of Weekes Murray, has his moments but doesn't influence games enough for me, or score enough goals. Roberts, another who might be classed as unlucky if released, top professional but age might be catching up with him. Daly, liked what I saw of him earlier in the season, not had the opportunities since and I don't know what his best position is. A bit lightweight maybe.
Of the rest of the squad not mentioned, for me they should be released.

Glendon is a good player on his day, but I’ve never understood why he was made captain. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at Radcliffe next season.

I would keep Murray too as at least he has a bit of fight in him Not a chance Nowhere near big enough or consistent enough to play for a side going for promotion.
Sign some expeirenced leaders and we might actually get somewhere.
Looking at his failures in the transfer market last summer, I’m afraid I don’t have much confidence in Cal when it comes to signing players.

Fingers crossed only players we keep are Stanway, Peers, Kev Roberts & Thomas Rest can go. Its highly likely that Stanway will move on; Peers has been a disappointment and Thomas only plays about a fifth of the games (sicknote). I agree about Kev, but he will probably need to manage his game time.

Anyone who has not been fit to play for 25-50% of this season due to injury should be released in the closed season.

Caton is under contract for next season. For what it's worth when you have to account for every penny I agree regarding recruitment of new players. The amount of games played the previous season should be a huge factor.

Caton, Burke, Weeks, Peers
I would offer retention to Williams, Woodthorpe, Heywood, Daly, Thomas, Stanway, Murray
Release Taylor, Glendon, Roberts, Edwards, Norton, Coates, Whitehouse, Smith, Hall
Tollitt & Burton not ours
I think Stanway will leave, so a new keeper, a big physical CB or 2 if Willo leaves, solid RB, strong aggressive CDM, target man, spare striker, winger

With the least respect available, you're an idiot (in my opinion). He is a fantastic player. I can't see how you can watch us and the standard of opposition/refereeing every week and not see how good he is. I understand how every red faced idiot flag shager in our fan base demands respect for their objectively bad "opinions" but realistically he is better than this league. With proper full time coaching and training he's leagues above us. I respect your right to different opinions but wonder if you really know anything about football. I suggest "in my opinion" that you shut the fuck up.

Speaking with one of the players dads today I'm sure we'll see a big turnover during the preseason as most don't want to play for him, contracted or not.

Hmmmm that’s very interesting if true and you could believe that it probably is given results/form etc . On Williams he’s our best player by miles we will be extremely fortunate to get him to Play for us for another season

Sorry your right, but Where's the head loss for you? Where have I lost the plot, Just saying he's a decent player. When that experienced CB with whatever height and pedigree you deem acceptable comes for free and not from a lad who walked throught the door asking to play for us feel, free to let me know. I'm sure signing this great CB won't take any cost out of the other positions we need. It's easy for the serial complainers to balance the books with your imagined perfect injury free signings who perform every week. The rest of us live in the real world. Williams has stayed fit and been a very solid performer. Not as good as the player you've made up in your head, but we can't all hold him to that fantasy standard. Hoping as you do, we sign this incredibly cheap experienced CB who doesn't cost anything and plays everyweek, scores goals and does all the things you need to make you happy. Williams is great for this level and throwing the baby out with the bathwater after 12 bad team results won't help that.

Of the contracted players, I'd attempt to move on Weeks and Peers. Of the non-contracted players I'd keep Stanway and Williams, although both should get better moves. I like Coates, but he's too injury prone.
I want a complete sweep. The likes of Weeks, Glendon, Roberts etc. They've been good servants and are undoubtedly decent players at this level. But they've had multiple seasons to get us out of this league and failed each time. They have that 'loser culture' which currently infests the club engrained in them and all I associate them with is numerous letdowns. It's time for them to move on.

Like i said if he's good enough im sure there will be bids in the summer which in fairness we could actually do with some transfer fee's paid to us for once.

Feel for Peers just not worked out for him since coming back doesn't help with negative tactics we play, Would keep him however has potential for 10-15 goals a season and as we know them kind of strikers are hard to come by at this level.
Agree on Weeks & Glendon though both great individual players but simply just don't work together on the pitch.

He's not been the same since that injury just after Christmas, broken foot was it? He's a good striker but never really been the main man anywhere he's been other than Curzon. Him and Caton had a good spell together briefly but I'd like a more physical striker added for both to rotate in playing alongside, they won't win much in the air as a duo

That statement means nothing if you're not going to tell us who. Any of us could have said that about anyone. That might be the dad of someone who's not playing, so theyre unhappy. He might be right though. In my original post I mentioned players choosing to move on, as watching them it looks that way. If we have 4 players contracted for next season, and we want them in the starting 11, then we need to look after them. If we have a player moved out of position or dropped for someone who's likely leaving, that will frustrate them and they'll lose confidence. Especially if the movement in front of them is poor. Ccomment on Roberts yesterday. Late in the 2nd half when the game was dead, he was the one player shouting at the others encouraging them to raise their game and compete. We still look a better team with him in it. We need a couple more with that professional ex league player attitude.

Why he has not been captain of this team for the past few years is completely beyond me. True pro.

If there was only one player I was resigning to add to those already on contract it'd be Kevin Roberts. Proper senior pro, whereas one or two of the other older lads have been bang average. Matty Williams will probably look to leave. Good defender, not great in possession. Looks to pass sideways too much currently, will need to develop better if he wants to progress. Unfortunately reckon Stanway will move on too. Good keeper for this level and the England C call up will have his agent busy ringing clubs up. Time will tell if he is good enough to move into the League.

Swindon are lurking for Stanway
Obviously keep the contracted players, Caton needs sorting out tho, looks completely devoid of any confidence of late when he has played.
We need a reboot over the close season and a complete rethink from Cal and his team as to how he wants us to play especially at home.

Brutal reality is we need a bit of a clear out to rebalance the squad.
Caton - injury prone and under contract so we'll need to keep. There's a player in there if he's fit, but we can't carry too many of them players Peers - didn't rate him first time around, not much more impressed this time. Again, under contract so he'll probably stick around so we'll have to see if we can get more of a tune out of him. Burke - my player of the season, but will probably go. We might really need that money to reinvest in squad. Weeks - not been his best season, but in the right setup he's still one of the best centre midfielders in the league.
Coates and Edwards can go. I like them both as players but if they only play 50% of the games then what's the point? Williams is a must keep, but I can't see him accepting a new deal. He'll go somewhere in the National League. Stanway I'd love to stay, but realistically he won't do. Woodthorpe has shown enough promise to stick around. Glendon - depends on his wage packet. Good player, but we need some more physicality and legs in the middle next season so I'd say it depends on what recruitment opportunities are out there. Murray - love the effort but for an attacking midfielder not enough goals or assists. A good player in the league below, but a squad player at best at this level. Move on. Roberts - a lot of respect but I don't think he's got the legs for it now. Would only keep if he's doing the physio stuff here, as we may aswell keep him registered if that's the case. Daly - Needs a summer in the gym to stand any chance of making it at this level. Norton - suprised a few on here want to retain him. He's got 1 goal hasn't he? Puts himself about but that's about it, looks like he finds scoring goals really hard to do. Get rid. Kole Hall - Unless he's at the level he was before injury, he can leave. He was a useful option to have, but since injury he had been pretty awful.
Loan players.....Burton has done alright and wouldn't mind seeing him here permanently. As for Tolitt, I can see why he's at this level.....shows flashes of what he's about but you'd really have to have him with the right sort of players around him that are going to do the dirty work for him, and on his wages I'd say no thanks.

I know Edwards was out for several games when he took that bad blow to the head earlier in the season, since then I've no idea if he was injured or just not selected. For me he's a solid 7 out of 10 player, does the basics well and reliable when selected. That's another thing I'm not a fan of, the lack of information regarding players, their injuries and potential timeframe to when they might be available again.
