We will make the playoffs, 3 points at Buxton, draw with Alfreton, beat Gloucester, lose Brackley and beat Darlo. 10 points job done.

That won't be enough. Need 6 points this weekend to keep us in the hunt

This weekend is make or break for our season, 6 points needed to keep us in the hunt, but we still have to rely on others to slip up for us to get back in the play offs.
I think it's all too little too late though. Our recent form is horrendous, and I'm not sure Cal has any answers to the obvious problems we have.

I think three wins would be enough IF one of them is against Alfreton on Monday. That's a massive game.
I don't want to hear or see anyone saying they'd take a point tomorrow. It's not enough to just avoid defeat now.

It's not enough to just avoid defeat now. We're realistically fighting for one of 3 places with Boston, Alfreton, South Shields, Spennymoor, Curzon, Hereford & Warrington. Looking at the games left, my predictions would be Boston finish 76 points, South Shields 76 points, Spennymoor 74 points, Alfreton 73 points (with us beating them), Hereford 72, Curzon 71 points, Warrington 68 points. Which means we obviously need to beat Alfreton, but win 3 of the others and at least a draw at Brackley to finish level with Spenny and get the last spot on goal difference with 74 points. This is based on the other teams' current form and a couple of them may flop unexpectedly, but not all of them! So it has to be 4 wins at least. Unlikely, but possible.

It's good to see such optimism around but what it's based on I don't know. Personally I think we have missed the boat for this season I can't see the massive turnaround in goalscoring and form needed . But then I'm a miserable old git that has been going since the 80's so seen many lows and a few highs along the way . Saying that we will probably take it to the last game of the season big game at home against Darlo big crowd big expectation and bugger it up like we normally do but you never know!!!

That's my take on it too - 4 wins needed. I reckon in that scenario Boston and Spennymoor are the other two teams in the playoffs, with South Shields just missing out. Otherwise I reckonn they will take that last place.

To be honest I think everyone feels a bit this way, but while there's a chance I think we have to go for it and try and forget about recent results.

I think Banbury have lost every match since they drew against us in early February, in a game which summed up how frustrating the second half of our season has been.

We basically need to win six matches in a row to go up. Can't see it happening, but it would be nice to win the three league games left, and hopefully at least make a playoff match.

Even if we win the remaining three games our future is in the hands of others. I’ve (wrongly?) given up the season already. Will be there at Glos and Brackley though.

I'm still (just about) confident that if we win the three matches, we'll sneak in to the play-offs. It's the prospect of winning them that I'm not so confident about.

Need to win all 3 obviously but think we will beat Gloucester, draw with Brackley and beat Darlington and miss out by 2 points

Need to win all 3 obviously but think we will beat Gloucester, draw with Brackley and beat Darlington and miss out by 2 points Head over heart, I'd agree. Darlo game could well depend on what both teams need for play-offs/survival. It could be two teams desperate for the three points, or a total dead rubber. I work with a Darlington fan, so at least I can pretend there's office bragging rights on the line if nothing else.

Who knows what will happen, but I’m sure there will be dropped points from the teams above us in the final 3 games.

At the moment it feels a bit like it did after the 6-0 defeat by Stockport at a similar point of the season five years ago, when we were still in with a chance of the play-offs but a lot of the belief had gone and it was out of our hands.
My gut feeling is that this time, just like then, our hopes of making it will end with a failure to beat Brackley in the penultimate game. But not going to give up hope until it becomes impossible.

Not in our league, but in the fifth tier - Gateshead v Chesterfield. 2-1 with a few minutes left to play. Attendance 879 with 155 visitors. What’s all that about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday night after both played Saturday. Chesterfield not won since they clinched the league. Heed get poor gates, and are also at home on Wednesday and Saturday!! Done brilliantly to make playoffs. Gate no surprise.

Take your point Ron but when you consider that Gateshead have had gates of: Woking 1186, Maidenhead 1391, Dorking 1209, Barnet 1098 and Oxford City 1179 I find the recent attendance of 879 as shambolic!!! The home team battling for a play-off place and Chesterfield league winners; 150 minutes travel time for The Spireites (all motorway) PATHETIC!!!!
