I seriously think that there are better things the budget can be spent on than a jolly to Italy. It'll just take the place of 30k spent on the Brackley fine as a reason people give for failure to be promoted again. We need to try and persuade at least one Premier League club to come over for a pre season friendly. Everton must owe us a favour for letting them use us for that behind closed doors warm up game for Dominic Calvert-Lewin a while ago. The Isle of Man tournament however seems a low cost way of bringing everyone, team and supporters, together for a good old fashioned piss up. Sounds like a cracking idea.

We got Man United to bring a really strong u21 side. Problem was, we then played a mix of squad and academy players and didn't give them any sort of game. So Man United got nothing out of the game. Hardly going to encourage them to do that again. The days of first team squads coming down are long gone. Most of them are in USA or Far East coining the money in.

If we play the Isle of Man in a mini tournament, I think it should be played over three legs.

Semi finals of this tournament are today. Three of the four are English - Lewes, Enfield Town and FC United (a team from Prague making up the four). Final and 3/4 place play off on Sunday. Yes, last season the semis and final were at the San Siro. This, year, slightly disappointing...a small stadium on Lake Garda. I've been to a couple of the home qualifiers, involving Lewes, against teams from Belgium and Norway. Generally been well received by fans, especially those who have gone to the two away games, and the home games on Tuesday night have been better attended than league games. There has been some discussion about cost, particularly as Lewes missed out on play offs by a couple of places. FC United are regulars. Matches are screened live and free on YouTube

Will the club be providing travel to supporters for any of the games? I wouldn't have thought so, but the IOM steam packet are doing offers for the weekend travel and tickets, also offering accommodation. www.steam-packet.com/blog/fciom/
