Different club. Chester City been dead and buried 14 years. It’s over, get over it. Are we a different club? How many on here say “we need to get back into the football league “ and other stuff I have never bought into this ‘new club’ stuff to me it’s the same club or has or history died with Chester city? Yeah. Completely different club. Literally. Same ground, that’s it. New club started in the northern prem so not sure why people think they belong in the Football League.

As with other threads, I don't think anybody would turn down a local benefactor with a load of spare readies to drive us up into the Football League again. Any ideas of who would be interested? Duke of Westminster - already invested in the KGV through his charitable arm, maybe he fancies selling a couple of his Mayfair buildings, changing our kit to yellow and green and getting his chauffer driven Roller over to Needham Market next October? Chris Larson / Leap 76 - put his money where his turkey teeth are already in sponsoring the stadium naming rights. Drives around Blacon in a flash Lambourghini so obviously has the disposable income? Winners breed winners. Tony Durkin / QHC - always wanted to own Chester City, certainly has a few quid but has been quiet last few years. Stuart Murphy - philanthropist, owner of wedding cars and bigger picture seer. Maybe the Ric Flair lookalike will return to banish all of our previous misconceptions with a brilliant financial plan and a dream in his heart? Terry Smith - made a few quid in the states on some radio thing, his old man is/was minted, maybe learned his lesson from last time. Feels like he owes us one and misses the zoo? I'm struggling now, any more? Or the management team and players could perform to their potential and get us into the playoffs as they should have from where they were situated mere weeks ago.

But have people forgotten we were relegated twice from the football league before the old club was wound up??? Our last sugar daddy took us back to the league but also destroyed the club. Ever since we left sealand Road we were living on borrowed time, Guterman, Smith and Vaughan) were our last private owners and they were all disastrous for the club I have supported them for 50 years now and remember the good old days but hand on heart prefer the stability we have under fan ownership. How many times have the club been on the brink on financial implosion under private ownershio in the past too many to count..... Our best years in the seventies were funded by selling off land adjacent to the old ground. A bit of luck and we may climb the leagues but it would take some serious money and plans for me to abandon the model we have now.

We've had so many dodgy owners that I don't trust the motives of anyone who comes forward promising the earth. What is in it for them? A chance to blow a load of money on the chance of taking us up a level?

We have a legends lounge with pictures of all of the legends including the class of 74/75. I have a very good friend who is one of those legends. Or maybe we should just chuck all of the pictures of the legends away and start the 'history' in 2011? We have a former players group so maybe we should just start our former players from 2011?. You cannot just kill history. Some of us have seen Chester playing L1 football I have seen Chester beat Newcastle (twice) including at St James Park. Leeds (including at Elland Road) I saw us beat Coventry and run the then top flight leaders Ipswich bloody close at portman road. We drew with spurs at the deva and Just got done 0-1 by Sunderland and Villa, and lots of other great matches. So all of this is 'gone'? I crave for us to get into the EFL (I won't say back into the EFL in case it offends you) You strike me as one of the survivalist lot, happy to just exist and hope that Cal can work wonders with a bunch of kids and players nobody wants on shit wages. I used to believe in Father Christmas too!

I used to believe in Father Christmas too! Sorry mate but it’s bloody boring going on about it. Don’t get me wrong, I wish I was around in the 70’s and 80’s for Sealand Rd and them cup runs, but it’s a totally different club now. We’re fan owned, reformed in the depths of the glue leagues as a new club. There’s no good saying we have a right to aim for the football league when our level is NLN and a crack at NL.

I used to believe in Father Christmas too! Of course it's the same club. Just fallen on hard times. If it wasn't the same club we wouldn't have been allowed to start the new version that high up the pyramid. I believe we still have Chester City carpet at the Deva so that proves it! Vigilante is on a wind up again 😂. To be fair to him, he's not one of the "NLN is our level" merchants.

Calling it a new club because it is a new club.
😂
No debate to be had. It’s a FACT.
I’m 37. Supported both clubs.
Watched us in the Football League and Non League when we were Chester City. Few good times. Mostly shite. Absolutely pathetic the last year or so. Limping on waiting to be put down like a stray dog under that cunt Vaughan.
Finally put down
Started a new club and started at the bottom (near enough) and worked our way up the leagues. Had some good times and a lot of shit times. Club is in a decent enough place off the pitch and we were close last season and just fizzled out this season. Go again next season and we will get into the league above eventually.
This narrative we’re a football league club is complete and utter bollocks. Miles away from being anywhere near a FL club.
Last thing anyone wants is to be a Non League club but that’s what we are and have been since we formed 14 years ago.

I totally agree with you on that I am old school and remember all the glory days playing at Old Trafford getting to the league Cup semi finals etc all distant but treasured memories but as you say that does not give us a god given right to play in the EFL we have to earn that again. I just thank the lord I can still shout COYB and cheer every goal we score
