Ah okay cheers You should be fine. Liverpool to Manchester via Warrington Central is unaffected. Three trains an hour, two terminate at Oxford Road and the other is the Nottingham train which does stop at Piccadilly. For anyone going from Chester it looks like you have three options. - Direct via Northwich - Change at Crewe - Change at Warrington Bank Quay, walk to Central and pick up Liverpool to Manchester trains. The Bus replacements are for the Northern trains only. Transport for Wales are still running the usual Chester to Manchester train but just terminating it at Warrington - Link

Boston is such a ballache place to get to, rail or car. By rail it's a right drag, not helped by being unable to leave until over an hour after the final whistle. I've done Dover and Torquay quicker every time.

Train line has it around £140 but haven’t looked at fare splitter yet. I’ve earmarked Kiddy and Hereford away in December but absolutely no chance of a train for night games so that’ll be an interesting drive to both 🙃🙃

Any tips for Fylde on the train would be appreciated, probably from Frodsham.Cheers Change at Warrington and then again at Preston. There's four an hour from Preston to Kirkham & Wesham which is a mile (if that) from the stadium pretty much a sraight road.
If you want a pre-match drink I'd go in Preston though (only 15 more mins to Kirkham when you're finished so can leave it quite late), station is very central. Old Vic right outside the entrance on the bridge is quite good if you don't wan't to venture too far and there's been Chester fans in there on previous visits. Preston at home that day but doubt Coventry will be any problems.

Playing around with these Northern fares and I think it's possible to get a return to King's Lynn on Feb 11 for under £65 (Chester to Leeds £19, Leeds to KL £44.50). A standard return ticket from Chester to KL would be £137!

A reminder with Southport coming up - do NOT go on Trainline and pay £9.95 for a return ticket. Just ask for an All Area Saveaway ticket at Chester station on the day, which is £6 and allows you unlimited Merseyrail train travel all day.
Normally, it's only valid after 9:30am on a Monday, but with it being a bank holiday I imagine that won't apply and it will be all day. Might be best to check though if you plan on setting off early.

Ahh I forgot Merseyrail is booze-free. Annoying that. Yeah and I wouldn't chance it either as I saw someone get fined for drinking on the train the other day. And god forbid you put your feet on the seats!

Anyone thinking of doing Kettering just be aware there's engineering works in the area. The Nuneaton to Leicester crossover line is shut after 10.30am.
Still doable but will take a fair bit longer via Nottingham.
